Home-schooling used to be illegal in Norway, but some parents ignored this and kept their children home from school anyhow. Eventually, one father had to go to prison for a month or so, but he still refused to send his son (named Balder, by the way) to school. He then went to prison again, and again --- and eventually the system gave up and allowed home-schooling.
