Landforms are natural features that make up the Earth’s surface. As a people, there are reasons to change landforms. This could be for reasons such as shelter, protection and to catch a person’s eye.People have changed the land we dwell on such as army engineers and construction workers.During our lives and the ones before us, the landforms of the world have changed for the people, usually for shelter, but in recent years, permanent homes of what we call houses, apartments and condos have been constructed.
People have been changing land forms for shelter during the history of man. Places for people thousands of years ago did not change much of the land. People changed the land to build their houses out of sticks or they lived in caves that were already there. People did not have the needs or tools to change the land they lived on. Recent times have a large population than we had 100’s of years ago.
Different cultures have constructed their houses through out the recent history and our times. We need to take a look at the Native Americans and their land. A few tribes built their homes in the side of mountains. The causes were many but the main was it was great protection. It was easy for them to do and convenient as the cliffs were there. This holds factual for the people of the Middle East. This community also lived in mountains. The protective shelter these people used were made out of the side of the mountain and look like houses we still have. As time went on, the tools improved to help people build in many areas of the world including mountains.
In middle age times there are great examples of how people changed landforms. When one of the most famous people of the world, Jesus, was alive, and before him, the people made their homes out of the stone in the land. Many places used this stone. This includes the building of irrigation systems and sewer systems. Water was brought in for city drinking water as well as baths. Architects still model their building after this system. Landforms have changed for people to live in large communities. It is like they started to in the Middle East.
Plain landforms, a few hundred years ago, gave people a place to live. Land area with out a lot of trees and is flat is a plain area. One of the few ways people built their homes is from the land of the Earth. Their roofs were of grass and the rest of the house was made of sod. Houses were made out of dirt and mud. This left a lot of to the landform and it did not change much of the landforms.
In human history, especially recently, landforms such as forests and swamps have changed to give people places to live and business a place to dwell. People needed to work and business needed land, so business took over large areas of massive forests and farm lands. Houses were built near swampy land so people could thrive and live near enough to drive to work. The tree lumber was used to contruct homes and buildings. The landforms were destroyed for the people to live and work on.
Given the change in population, land forms have changed drastically to benefit where we live. In the world we live in today, people live in homes that are 1000’s of square feet. Lush prairies are now farms that feed us food we need. Landforms have changed many times over for humans to have a place to live. Homes have changed from the past to now.
Population is increasing and intern, so are our landforms. Where once was a glowing landform like a forest, is now homes for large families and buildings for people to do their jobs.In our recent past, we have changed the way our landforms look at an alarming rate for what we feel is human need. It is a lot different from a thousand years ago where landforms were built out of clay and sticks. Humans have done this for a more convenient place to live and for protection but it has had an effect on our landforms. We need to think about the homes we live in today if we want to keep our beautiful landforms.
